As a long time music lover and a music major in college, it has always bothered me that most paraphernalia decorated with sheet music is just a random assortment of notes on a staff with tempo and dynamic markings thrown about as if to say “this is what music looks like.” Why not go the extra mile and buy something that not only shows you care about music, but showcases a specific song that is meaningful to you?

A few years into my knitting career, I wanted to make a blanket for my little sister, but I was stumped about what the pattern should be. Inspiration struck when I realized I could make a sheet music blanket (my sister is also a singer and music lover) featuring the song I used to sing to them every night before bed: “You’ll be in my Heart” from Tarzan. That blanket was one of the most meaningful gifts I have ever given, and now I want to give others the chance to give the same gift.

I am now offering customized sheet music blankets in multiple sizes, as well as patterns for those who wish to knit the blanket themselves. Whether you have a baby on the way and want their first blanket to show the lullaby you will sing to them or you’re a long time musician who wants to snuggle up on the couch under a song you wrote, this is just the thing for you. Pick from a list of favorite lullabies or request a song of your choice (melody only, single staff). All blankets are lined with fleece in a color of your choice to keep you or your baby nice and warm in your musical napping.

Possibilities include:

  • a lullaby you sing to your baby
  • the Star Wars theme
  • your college’s fight song
  • your wedding song
  • the theme song of your favorite TV show
  • basically any other song you can think of
